With this excursion, you will visit the lively capital of Crete, Heraklion!
heraklion ciyt tour welcome to the market in Heraklion in the district of Pateles, also known as the Gypsy Market where you find everything from vegetables and fruits till clothes and summer shoes. The cheap prices make the market a succes for the local people as well as the tourists. The atmosphere feels oriental and the screams of the vendors amuses whoever passes. After an hour and a half we get on our bus and we make a little bus trip through the city centre (app. 15 min). You will see the most worthwile sites of Heraklion. Arriving at the square of liberty we get of the bus and you get the opportunity to visit the city centre.

If you begin a walk around Heraklion, starting at the fishing harbour close to the modern port, what will strike you first is the Venetian fortress at the harbour gate. The fortess was originally built by the Venetians and called Rocca al Mare, but is now known by its Turkish name, Koules. It has a mixed history; for centuries it was used as protection against invaders, as were the great City Walls and ditches. These are among the longest city walls in Europe.

Shops, boutiques and jeweller stores you will find on your way. And if you are interested in culture we advise you to take a look at the Historial Museum of Heraklion. At two o' clock we leave again for the hotels or apartments.
