Combine the trip to Spinalonga with a great BBQ! The bus will first take you to Agios Nikolaos, from where the boat will take you to Spinalonga, passing Mirabello bay. In the 16th century, a Venetian fortress was built on the island.

In the beginning of the twentieth century, Leper was a common disease in Greece. In that time, the government decided to ban the lepers for life to the island of Spinalonga, in order to isolate the diseased from the healthy population. Hundreds of people died at Spinalonga. Graves confirm the tragic ending of these people.

In Agios Nikolaos you can shop or have a drink on one of the many terraces by the harbour or the small lake. You have about one and a half hour in this nice town.
