This small town, high above the bay stands out for its unique view it offers over the sheltered bay and the whole city of Heraklion. The taverns have nice food and many inhabitants from Heraklion come here. The streets are narrow dotted with traditional Cretan houses. Furthermore, the Savathiana monastery is in Rogdia, which is one of the most beautiful  monasteries on Crete. There are three ways to reach Rogdia: * Via a short dirt road starting in Agia Pelagia. * Depart from Agia Pelagia and drive in the direction of Heraklion. After about 10 km you take the exit to Amoudara. From here, roadsigns point to Rogdia. * You can also get there via a road from Ahlada, which is a rather good dirt road of about 5 km- the total distance between Agia Pelagia and Rogdia is roughly 7 km. |
